May Fayre - Can you help?
Cancellation of the Upper Clatford and Anna Valley May Fayre Saturday 26th June 2021
It is with great sadness that the May Fayre Committee has taken the decision to cancel this year’s May Fayre. The decision was not taken lightly but there were so many elements of uncertainty surrounding running the May Fayre within a week of the Covid restrictions being lifted, that the Committee felt it was the right thing to do.
We hope to be back bigger and better next year and, once again, make it a great success for everyone in the local community.
For around 40 years, Upper Clatford and Anna Valley residents have been organising a May Fayre on the first bank holiday Monday in May. It’s a popular village event which attracts nearly 1000 visitors and generally raises over £4000. Running costs are kept to a minimum and all the profit is ploughed back into local community projects and societies.
A great deal of work and effort goes into organising such an event and we are always looking for volunteers and value their contribution – however large or small. If you are able to offer any help with collecting, running a stall or with the set up and clear up, we’re always keen to welcome new volunteers. Typically, we need help with the following:
- Collecting bric a brac and selling raffle tickets
- Erecting and taking down gazebos, stalls and a variety of tents
- Running the stalls and children’s events
If you would like to be involved in any way, please contact Sue Stephens or Demelza Shrimpton for more information. Details of how you can contact us can also be found here (https://www.upperclatford.com/community/upper-clatford-15048/may-fayre/).
