Crook and Shears – Skittle Alley - Working Group Meeting

All eighty parishioners who had registered interest in participating on one of the Working Groups, were invited to attend a briefing meeting in the Crook and Shears.  On the night, 33 came and, having bought the obligatory drink, assembled in the Skittle Alley.

Peter Heslop (Chairman Parish Council), in welcoming everyone to the meeting, emphasised that this was the start of a special journey for all of us.  It was clear that while some volunteers had skills that would be vital to the successful development of the plan, everyone had a part to play and he encouraged everyone to do what they could.  Charles Eyre (Chair of the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group) then provided a review of what had been done and achieved to date, and a high-level overview of the results of the questions relating to development in the SurveyMonkey.

The meeting then considered the next phase of the process, gathering additional evidence and preparing the Neighbourhood Plan.  Peter Kiddle, who lead the Steering Group for Goodworth Clatford Neighbourhood Plan which is now approved and will soon be subject of a vote of approval by parishioners.

The Steering Group has decided to create three Working Groups (WGs) to prepare the Evidence Document, which will review all the relevant policies in respect to the SurveyMonkey questions and responses (see xxx).  They WGs are:

  • Built Environment
  • Environment and Countryside
  • Community facilities, Transport and Business

Nick Shah, a member of the Steering Group, presented a Vision Statement, reflecting the parishioners’ views as expressed in the Survey Monkey. These will be used by the WGs to guide the gathering of additional evidence.

The participants then joined one of the 3 break out groups covering the 3 WGs to introduce themselves and plan a first meeting.
