On Saturday 10 November, All Saints’ Church, Upper Clatford, will be marking the eve of the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War with some locally produced contemporary art and interesting archives.

Art work will include a banner, a three dimensional work representing the battlefields of the Western Front and two installations along the church path depicting war and peace. The servicemen who died who are listed on the war memorial will each be represented around the church.

Displays of archives will provide a snapshot of Upper Clatford in 1914-18, together with background information about those who died and survived.  There will be an opportunity for visitors to remember individuals who died in WWI.

Individuals and village organisations will be participating including the church flower arrangers, Clatford Valley Gardening Club, the Parish Council and the Clatford Guides.

The Burdock Valley Players will be performing WWI poetry which will trace the change in attitudes to the War, at 11am and 2pm.

Refreshments will be served in the Meadow Room at the church.

The event will start at 10am and will be brought to a close with a short, reflective service at 4pm led by the Revd Katrina Dykes, Priest-in-Charge of the Anna Benefice.

There will be an opportunity to donate to the Royal British Legion.
